5 Signs that You Need a New Roof

2. Asphalt granules in the gutters.

3. Lots of missing or cracked shingles.

If strong gusts of wind send shingles flying, or there are patches of missing shingles all over your roof, it’s only a matter of time before you’ll see leaks in your home through the exposed layers.

4. It’s been a long time.

The lifetime of the average asphalt roof is 15-20 years. Over that timespan, your shingles become brittle and lose their adhesive, meaning they can be torn off due to wind or pulverized by hail stones. Make sure you know the age of your roof.

5. Your roof is dang ugly.

Even if a roof does its job well enough, it might be the biggest blemish on the face of your home. Nothing turns a house from hang-dog to holy-cow quicker than a sleek new roof.
